Configuring your Computer

If you used a myVine CD-Rom to sign-up, your settings are automatically configured to the myVine network. You are ready to surf. However, if you used our online sign up form, you will need to "set-up" or "configure" your computer settings to our network. Here are the easy to use steps.

Caution!! You may need your Windows 95/98/ME/.NET/XP software.

Settings and Addresses
• The name of the ISP you will be signing up with is myVine.com
• E-mail address: username@myvine.com
• Incoming Mail (POP3 or POP) Server: mail.myvine.com
• Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: mail.myvine.com (Outgoing mail requires authentication.)

Verifying, and Installing Dial Up Networking and How To Create a Connection Icon
1. Double click the My Computer icon. If there is a Dial Up Networking folder go to step 10, if not go to step 2.
2. Double click the Control Panel.
3. Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
4. Select the Windows Setup tab.
5. Uncheck Communications, and press Apply.
6. Recheck Communications, and press Apply. (YOU NEED THE WINDOWS 95/98 SOFTWARE.)
7. After the files are done being copied, select Yes when asked to restart your computer.
8. After the computer restarts, close the Control Panel.
9. Double click the My Computer icon.
10. Double click the Dial Up Networking icon.
11. If you automatically are in the Connection Wizard click Next, if not, Double click the Make New Connection icon.
12. Type in MyVine.com for the name of the computer you are dialing.
13. Click Next.
14. Enter your dial up number for you area. (It is the customers responsibility to make sure that this is a local number.)
15. Click Next.
16. Press Finish. You should now have a Connection icon.
17. With your RIGHT mouse button click ONCE on the MyVine.com icon.
18. Select Properties from the menu that appears, and Left Click.
19. Click on the Server Types button or tab.
20. The only boxes that should have a check in them are Enable for Software Compression and TCP/IP settings.
21. Click OK until you are back to the Dial Up Networking window.
22. With your RIGHT mouse button click ONCE on the MyVine.com icon.
23. Select Create Shortcut from the menu that appears.
24. Then select Yes on the message that comes up.
25. Close Dial Up Networking, and close My Computer.
26. You should now have a Shortcut to MyVine.com on your desktop.

Verifying, Installing, and Configuring The Dial Up Adapter and TCP/IP.
1. Press the Start button, select Settings, then Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Network icon.
3. Make sure the Configuration tab is selected.
4. Both Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP should be present. If so go to step10
5. To add the Dial-Up Adapter, hit the Add... button, double-click Adapter, then scroll down the list until you can select Microsoft.
6. Choose the Dial-Up Adapter and hit OK.
7. If you need to install TCP/IP, hit the Add... button, double-click Protocol, then select Microsoft, then TCP/IP, and hit OK.
8. Now the Network dialog box should contain both Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP
9. Select the Dial Up Adapter, click Properties..., Bindings, and make sure the TCP/IP box is checked. Click OK.

Configuring the TCP/IP Protocol
1. Click on the TCP/IP protocol and press the Properties... button You should get the TCP/IP Properties box
2. Under the first tab (IP Address), select the Obtain an IP address automatically option.
3. Under the WINS Configuration tab make sure that Disable WINS Resolution is selected.
4. Under the Gateway tab, make sure there are no numbers, if so delete those numbers
5. Press the Add button, this will add 0.0.0.0 in the bottom window.
6. Under the tab DNS Configuration, make sure that Disable DNS is selected
7. When you are finished setting these options, press the OK button
8. Click OK on the Network window.
9. Windows will attempt to install the needed drivers, so you made need your Windows Installation disks
10. You will be prompted to Restart your computer, press Yes.

How To Use the Connection
1. At the desktop double click the Shortcut to MyVine.com
2. This will open the connect window. Fill in your username and password.
3. Press Connect.
4. After connecting in, double-click on the shortcut to your browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer)
